The African Communist is the quarterly journal of the South African Communist Party (SACP). The SACP is a socialist party that works towards labor rights and was a part of the resistance against Apartheid. The journal began in 1959 and continues to publish today.
Within the History Lab, there are physical copies of the journal for students to peruse and research. Alongside The African Communist periodicals, the History Lab also has copies of the Sechaba journals. Students can learn about South African resistance and socialism from these primary sources.
